How’s Taste Being Unemployed?

December 8, 2008

Hello out there. Anyone still here?

Well regardless, it’s nice to be back where it all started. If there is anyone left at the Park, let me first apologize for not saying goodbye properly a few months ago when I started working full-time at MMARated.com. I always intended on coming back here, but just planned on redecorating a little and, as a result, delayed things a bit. Guess what? Now I have a little more time on my hands. Yahoo!

So, if you are reading this you probably know that things didn’t go as planned at MMARated.com. What a bummer. I can’t really talk about any specifics, but let it be known that it had nothing to do with the site’s performance or popularity. Au contraire, Rated was actually one of the most popular sites under the Sportnet banner (I believe somewhere in the top 5), and we were one of the youngest of the bunch too (the site launched in April 2008). This article can give you a better sense as to what happened.

To say I was shocked when I heard the bad news would be a gross understatement. I had no idea this day was coming and was never given any indication. It sucks getting the rug pulled from underneath you but that’s life. Anyways, I am not here to soak my sorrows so enough crying from me.

The bottom line is that I was and will forever be extremely proud of what I accomplished over there. We built that site into a respected MMA news outlet and had a great time in the process. Now it’s time to look to the future.

And therein lies the big question: What’s in store for the future? I have been asked this question a lot over the last couple of weeks and, to be honest, I am still unsure. I’m talking to some interesting people and, hopefully, will be back in the swing of things come early 2009. In the meantime, I have been helping out on the upcoming “UFC 94: Primetime” show which airs in January on Spike TV. Needless to say, I am honored to help in the production of this historic three-part series but am already itching to continue building on what we were doing at MMARated.com. Until then, I will spend some time hanging out at the Park again so spread the word, damn it.

One final note, I just wanted to thank all the readers/listeners/viewers for all the nice e-mails and comments I have have been receiving – especially everyone at The UG. Wow, words can not express how amazing it felt to read your words. I truly had no idea so many people enjoyed those interviews! That overwhelming feedback made me realize that the end of my time at MMARated.com simply marked the end of a chapter in my life…nothing more.

Talk to you soon…

  3. Fuck that, put the video back up.

Are we talking “threatened” as in lawsuits or “threatened” as in ass-whoopings? Either way it’s a pussy move on his part. Put it back up.
